August marked the beginning of our 20th anniversary, and after 20 years of incredible work we’ve had plenty to celebrate. Many of our teams decided to attend events and spread the news about our anniversary.
2nd August
The festivities began where the organisation first started. In 2002 in St David’s at the National Eisteddfod, TGP Cymru was launched by then Children’s Minister, Jane Hutt. Two decades later at the 2022 National Eisteddfod in St David’s, Jane Hutt cut our 20th birthday cake, signifying the start of our celebrations.
8th August
To celebrate our 20th anniversary the North Wales team had an away day, where they went axe throwing!
10th August
Our Mid and West Wales team attended the RAY Play Day event in Aberaeron. Their stall had live music from Ceredigion Safe Star Theo, a drum workshop, bike smoothies and a photo booth. A lot going on, and it looked like a lot of fun!
19th August
The stall at the Families Love Newport event provided educational material about the organisation, a painting station for young people, and a 20th anniversary birthday cake. The inaugural first slice of the cake was made by Mayor of Newport Councillor Martyn Kellaway.
Becky’s Journey
Throughout the month our visiting advocate for North Wales Becky was making her usual route: Visiting 12 homes, offering advocacy support to 47 children and young people, driving 270 miles. However to celebrate our 20th birthday, Becky shared sweets and cake with the young people and staff she visited.
It has been a busy first month, and it’s been fun celebrating 20 years of making a difference!
