TGP Cymru were pleased to be part of the celebrations of the UNCRC 30th Anniversary celebrations on November 20th 2019.

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) is a legally-binding international agreement setting out the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights of every child, regardless of their race, religion or abilities.

This was a Fashion Show created by young people to promote individuality and keeping children and young people safe. The theme was Incognito – avoiding peer pressure, designer labels and makes to fit in. The young people sourced clothes from local charity shops and upcycled their outfits creatively to walk down the cat walk.

There was a short film played to introduce the project and during the interval the safeguarding rap was shown and a poem written in the words of the young people was read out. The show was played out to a packed audience of children, young people and adults including Sally Holland, the Children’s Commissioner who introduced the show and Jackie Murphy, CEO TGP Cymru who closed the show.

It was an amazing event and the young people were inspirational.

We held a participation day in conjunction with University of South Wales at the Atrium last week. Thanks go to our trustee Emma and the staff and students there who all helped us to make a film about advocacy as well as other activities.

It was made by CYP for other CYP to understand advocacy and how it could help them. Watch this space for our film release date!

TGP Cymru were thrilled to receive a donation of £1,254 from the 5p carrier bag sales from our Charity of the Year partnership with Sainsbury’s Cardiff Bay.

Many grateful thanks go to them for their support.

Preparations are well under way in Aberystwyth for our Fashion Show in April……….sneak previews of what to look forward to!

TGP Cymru’s Junior Safeguarding Children’s Board CADW,  launched a rap about staying safe online, as part of National Safeguarding Week. Young people from Mid and West Wales wrote and produced the rap and hope it will empower young people across Wales to stay safe when online and using social media.

Dave Bound and Mark Jefferis have supported our young people throughout with the technical parts and encouragement in producing the rap.

You can download the lyrics here, and listen to the song below:

Tina and Laura from TGP Cymru’s Restorative Approaches Veterans and Families Service took part in a ‘One Stop Shop’ at Cardiff City Football Ground this week. Run by the Bluebirds Foundation, this provided a great opportunity for any military veterans to drop in and meet with charities and organisations that are there to give support.

TGP Cymru work alongside Veterans NHS Wales in Cardiff and the Vale to support veterans, service leavers and their families around mental health and relationships, supporting the family to move forward.

Would you like to join our 100 Club and be a lucky winner in our monthly draw whilst supporting children, young people and their families across Wales?

This is open to our staff and family members, friends, trustees and volunteers and only costs £3 per month. 40% of the total raised each month is paid out as winnings and the remainder goes to help support our projects.

You will hold the same number for the year – you can choose your own number from those still available.

A draw will be made on 20th of each month by two people at Head Office (if this is a weekend or bank holiday it will be on the next working day). The winning number/name will be shared on social media and our website.
